'That tells you everything' - TV pundit now claims 'maverick' to leave Tottenham

Former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer believes Tanguy Ndombele has no future at Tottenham Hotspur and will be moved on in the near future.

With Ndombele now on loan at former club Lyon, it is easy to forget the Frenchman is Spurs’ record signing. Unfortunately, his move to north London did not work out as expected for either him or Tottenham, with his attitude and fitness questioned.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Antonio Conte ‘sees no future‘ for the midfielder at Tottenham.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Palmer does not expect the midfielder to be on Spurs’ books for much longer. He said: “The manager is the manager, and if he says he doesn’t see him having a future at Spurs, then that tells you everything you need to know, he’s going to be moved on in the summer.”

Ndombele looked like a shrewd signing when he was captured from Lyon in 2019, but he has failed to live up to expectations. As alluded to earlier, Jose Mourinho criticised his attitude and health, even if he later praised him, and he often looked uncomfortable in the middle of the park for Spurs.

However, Tim Sherwood appeared to be a fan of the midfielder, calling him a ‘maverick’ earlier this season.

Back at Lyon, he has impressed, scoring once and providing two assists in 10 matches while averaging a rating of 7.8 in the Europa League, as per WhoScored. Unfortunately, some players are good fits for certain clubs and poor ones for others, and it appears the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium did not offer Ndombele the conditions to play his best football.

Recouping the £53.8m they paid for the 25-year-old may prove difficult, but Tottenham could still bring in a considerable sum if they cash in.

With three years left on
