'That raised the tempers!' Cardiff City boss Steve Morison fumes at Barnsley as he accuses them of foul play

Cardiff City manager Steve Morison has accused Barnsley of unfair play and believes they "endangered" their ball retrievers with underhand tactics.

Many onlookers spotted during the match that Cardiff were searching for towels before throw-ins, a weapon they use to great effect through Will Vaulks and Marlon Pack.

But the towels were placed away from the advertising hoardings, where they are typically found, with some fans even suggesting that Barnsley staff were giving them to supporters in an attempt to hide them.

It was just another example of the gamesmanship which ended up sullying the match after the full-time whistle.

Another big reason why the fracas took place at the end, according to Morison, was Mads Andersen's reckless challenge on Alfie Doughty, who looks set for a spell on the sideline now.

It all mixed in the cauldron to boiling point and Morison said he believes the Tykes need to look into how they conduct themselves following the defeat by the Bluebirds.

"Alfie was having a scan at one but looking at the picture of it, it’s not pretty," Morison said. "Touch wood we get lucky but I'm not holding out any hope.

“That just raised the tempers. There was lots that went on. They were endangering their own ball boys and kids around the pitch by making them hide towels and things like that.

“The towels are there for everyone to use – you shouldn’t go round asking kids under the age of 18 to hide them from grown men. It’s something they need to look at as a football club.

“We’re just there trying to win a game of football and it should be fair for everyone.”
