'That might suit Newcastle' - Journalist now issues promising Broja transfer claim

Newcastle United could strike a loan deal with Chelsea for the signing of striker Armando Broja, which could suit both parties.

That is according to journalist Pete O’Rourke, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the Magpies’ transfer business ahead of August’s Premier League kick-off.

Eddie Howe’s side have been linked with a move for Broja, especially since previous frontrunners West Ham United signed Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca earlier in July.

The 20-year-old striker scored nine goals and provided one assist in 38 appearances whilst on loan at Southampton last season,  according to Transfermarkt.

And O’Rourke believes that a loan deal for Broja could suit both Newcastle and Chelsea this season.

“It does seem that Chelsea aren’t that keen on selling him on a permanent basis and if they were to let him go it would probably be on a loan deal, and that might suit Newcastle right now.

“They could take him on loan and give him that regular run of games that he’s not going to get at Chelsea.

“So yeah, this could be a deal that suits both Newcastle and Chelsea.”

We agree with O’Rourke and believe that a loan deal would be ideal for both clubs, with Chelsea wanting to keep hold of a talented striker in the long-term, whilst Newcastle need a striker for the here and now, and have already spent a reported £61m this summer on transfers.

According to The Shields Gazette the club have limited funds to spend this summer following their three new signings so far, so a loan deal might be the way forward, and could still give Howe the answer he needs at centre-forward for the upcoming campaign.
