'One that could accelerate' - Journalist now thinks NUFC may receive transfer boost 'next week'

Journalist Jordan Cronin has been speaking on the Loaded Mag YouTube channel about when Newcastle United’s pursuit of Goncalo Ramos could start to accelerate.

It has been a rather frustrating window for Newcastle and Eddie Howe when it comes to trying to beef up their attacking lineup as they are yet to make a breakthrough despite there being just two weeks left of the transfer window.

However, next week could prove to be a busy one as clubs decide which fringe players they wish to loan out, with the likes of Conor Gallagher and Christian Pulisic on Newcastle’s radar. Elsewhere, with Benfica playing their second-leg Champions League qualifier next Tuesday, Ramos may well be allowed to leave, with the club’s manager, Roger Schmidt, recently claiming that ‘the market is open‘.

And Cronin believes that once Benfica’s tie against Dynamo Kyiv concludes, things may speed up on the Ramos front.

He said: “It is one that could potentially accelerate after the second leg next week, but at this moment, he’s seen as a key player for Benfica, they are currently in a Champions League tie.

“The interest is very, very strong. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens on that one, but from last week, no change, really. But that date next week is potentially one to watch.”

TIF Thoughts on Newcastle’s interest in Ramos…

The striker is still very young at just 21 and last season was nothing too exciting from Ramos, who managed to score eight goals in 46 appearances across all competitions. However, that was while playing second fiddle to Darwin Nunez – and now as the main man, he appears to be thriving.
