As far as the Longhorns are concerned, the result on the field has now officially decided the matter.

Texas notched a 20-17 win Saturday afternoon, adding another ranked win to its impressive early-season résumé. It wasn't without some late consternation, as a late Volunteer touchdown and successful onside kick gave Tennessee the chance at a stunning last-gasp comeback, but a relentless pass rush helped the Longhorns eventually escape unscathed.

And they left Knoxville while offering a final parting shot via social media. Texas posted a simple message after the win: «Debate settled.»
