Tennis SA CEO steps down after short tenure

Tennis South Africa (TSA) CEO Andre Homan has stepped down from his position less than a year since taking up the role.

Homan, a former commercial manager for the Golden Lions Rugby Union, was only confirmed as TSA CEO in January this year. He officially took up office on 1 February, replacing Richard Glover, who stepped down at the end of 2021 after five years at the helm.

TSA said in a statement that Homan had taken up an attractive leadership position in commercial sports management.

"It is with mixed emotions that I announce my resignation from Tennis South Africa to pursue another opportunity. It has been a privilege to be involved with tennis at this level and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the federation," Homan said.

"There is huge potential to grow the game and TSA has the leadership to make South Africa a world leader once again.

"I will miss all the friends I made and wish all the players, coaches, officials and administrators everything of the best."

Homan will step down on 31 October 2022 and TSA said his replacement would be named within the next few months.

"Since his appointment, Andre has focused hard on developing and growing the game of tennis in South Africa," commented TSA president Gavin Crookes.

"We thank him for his many contributions and wish him well for the future.

"The TSA board has already begun the process of finding a suitable successor for the CEO's position. In the meantime, TSA's excellent leadership team and committed staff will continue to professionally execute their mandate to serve SA's tennis community."
