Ten red cards - Man City boss Pep Guardiola makes point after Erling Haaland reaction

Pep Guardiola defended Erling Haaland's angry reaction to the late controversy in Manchester City's draw with Tottenham by claiming if Haaland was punished then 10 players should have been sent off.

City were furious when Haaland was fouled in second half injury time with the score at 3-3, with the striker picking himself up and sending through Jack Grealish clean on goal. Referee Simon Hooper initially waved play on, before pulling it back for the foul after Grealish had controlled the through ball and started running towards goal.

Haaland led the City protests as most of the side surrounded Hooper, and the striker was still angry at full-time. After the game, he posted a video of the incident with the caption 'WTF', underlining his anger.

Afterwards, Guardiola declined to blame the incident for the reason why City dropped points, and also defended Haaland's angry reaction as 'normal'. Guardiola went further, saying if Haaland was to be punished for his reaction, then so should the rest of his teammates who surrounded the referee.

"It's normal. His reaction was the same for 10 players," Guardiola said. "The rules are you cannot talk with the referees or fourth officials so we should have had 10 players sent off today. He’s a little bit disappointed."

Guardiola added that he expected Hooper would be disappointed with the decision too when he reviewed it, saying: "Even the referee - if he played for Man City today he would be disappointed for that action, that’s for sure."

City will now wait to discover if Haaland's post will land him in
