Teenager fighting for life following smash between Audi and bike in Fallowfield

An 18-year-old boy is fighting for his life following a crash between an off-road bike and an Audi in south Manchester.

Emergency services descended on Wilbraham Road, at the junction with Lloyd Street South at around 2.45pm on Tuesday (July 23) to reports of the major collision between the bike and car.

Residents watched on in horror as the biker, an 18-year-old, was treated at the scene by paramedics before he was rushed to hospital.

Greater Manchester Police have since confirmed the teenager sustained serious and life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital for treatment.

The main road was taped off for a number of hours on Tuesday amid investigations. Evidence markers were placed on the road as serious collision investigators conducted enquiries.

Dramatic pictures taken at the scene show the car, an Audi Q2, in the centre of the road surrounded by debris and blood. Multiple police cars guarded the cordon late into the evening as investigations were carried out.

Detective Constable Rachael Stafford from GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) said; “Since the incident yesterday we are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to a young rider suffering serious injury.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time or may have doorbell or dashcam footage in the moments leading up to, during or after the collision.
