There were tears and disbelief as Manchester City won the Champions League for the first time. A second half goal from Spanish midfielder Rodri secured a 1-0 win for the Blues to claim a historic Treble.

More than 2,000 miles away from the game in Istanbul, thousands of City fans who couldn't get their hands on tickets watched on at special screenings across the city. There was scenes of jubilation and ecstasy as City navigated a tense game to win the club's first European title since 1970, and elevate them to the pinnacle of world football.

Thousands of fans congregated at screenings of the game including at Love Factory in Dantzic Street, Bierkeller and at Mayfield Depot. The celebrations are set to continue long into the night and up to Monday, when a trophy parade is expected to be held in the city centre.

Full details of the trophy parade are yet to be announced. The Champions League trophy was the last title the all conquering City team were hunting down during Pep Guardiola's stellar seven year spell in charge at the Etihad Stadium.

After the game, midfielder John Stones said he was proud to have played his part in 'history'. He told BT Sport: "It was the thing that we were missing and I feel so pleased. It’s a pleasure to be a part of this team, to create this history. It’s so special.

"We’ve set the bar high now. Honestly after this season, from where we were in the Premier League, to bring it back and to go on and win the FA Cup and then to come here on such a difficult night to win this, honestly I can’t put it into words."
