Taylor Swift fans raise thousands for families of Southport stabbing victims

Taylor Swift fans have raised thousands of pounds for the families affected by horrific stabbings in Southport.

Two children were killed while another six are in critical condition following the incident in Hart Street on Monday morning (July 29). Two adults were also critically injured in the deadly knife attack at a Taylor Swift-themed dance party.

Dozens of children had gathered at the Hart Space, a community centre, for the event, the Liverpool ECHO reports. But soon after, terrified children ran from the scene after a male, who was armed with a knife, walked into the premises and began to attack those inside.

A 17-year-old boy, from Banks, Lancashire, and originally from Cardiff, was arrested and continues to be questioned by police. Officers said he is being held on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

The team behind The Eras Tour social media accounts have shared a fundraising page set up by two Taylor Swift fans, who said they were working with Alder Hey Children's Hospital to help raise money for the families affected by the tragedy.

The JustGiving page has already received more £22,000 in donations.

Posts on X by The Eras Tour read: "We were devastated to hear about the tragedy that occurred today in Southport. Our hearts go out to the children and their families. If you would like to help Alder Hey Children's Hospital raise money for the families affected, you can do so here."

"Thank you @spoonfulofswift and @metsswift for organising this fundraiser." The JustGiving page can be found here.
