Taraba police rescue three kidnap victims

The Taraba State Police Command has rescued three kidnap hostages in a fresh move to stamp out violent crimes in the state.

The Command’s boss, CP Ukachi Opara, has, however, tasked the tactical team, which recorded the breakthrough, to go after the fleeing suspects.

Disclosing the breakthrough, the state police spokesman, SP Abdullahi Usman, hinted that on January 11, 2025, based on credible intelligence received from the Officer in Charge of Nayeh Police Outpost, Ibi Division, Taraba State Police Command, suspicious movements of suspected kidnappers were detected in the forest of Unguwan Wulliam Kumar Village, Ibi LGA, Taraba State, at around 6:35 p.m.

He said, “A combined team of policemen, local hunters, and vigilantes was swiftly mobilized to the forest. On sighting the team, the hoodlums engaged them in a gun duel. Due to the superior firepower of the team, the culprits were subdued and fled into the forest with serious gun injuries sustained during the confrontation, abandoning the following kidnapped victims:

“Alhaji Ja’o (male), Ahmadu, 50, and Gomna Shano, 20, both from Wuse, Awe LGA, Nasarawa State, and Donnal Himbeto, 30, of Kuka Shendam, Plateau State. The victims were found tied up in the aforementioned forest, rescued unhurt, and are yet to be reunited with their families.

“However, when interviewed, it was discovered that the victims were kidnapped from Nasarawa State. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing kidnappers to free the Command from the menace of the bandits.”
