Tánaiste slams 'tone deaf' Wicklow GAA April Fool's post

The Tánaiste has described a social media post from Wicklow GAA as "tone deaf" and "insulting".

It comes after Wicklow GAA posted a so-called April Fool's Joke, where it suggested a new stadium in the county would be shared with the LGFA and the Camogie Association as "equal partners".

Its tone is being described as mocking and offensive, and the post has now been deleted.

Wicklow native Tánaiste Simon Harris has weighed in on the discourse.

Harris told Newstalk: "I think this post was extremely disappointing, in extraordinarily bad taste, tone deaf and really very insulting.

"Insulting to women playing sport in my own county of Wicklow and right across the country, insulting to the many women who volunteer as part of the GAA, as part of Camogie, and as part of Ladies' Gaelic Football."
