Kai Havertz was once again the hero as Chelsea added the final trophy available during Roman Abramovich's reign at Stamford Bridge.
Thomas Tuchel's men were made to fight hard for the FIFA Club World Cup, however, as Brazilian side Palmeiras eyed a shock on the biggest stage.
Romelu Lukaku gave Chelsea the lead in the second half but a penalty for the underdogs saw the game reach extra time. But just as a shootout looked likely, the Blues were awarded a spot-kick of their own.
With Lukaku and Jorginho both off the field, it was left to Havertz to score the crucial goal - just as he did against Manchester City last May - sending the travelling fans behind the goal wild.
But it was not just current players celebrating. Plenty of former stars took to social media after the game to congratulate former teammates.
The Chelsea legend popped up all over the place at the match itself, but was also present on social media after the final whistle.
After Lukaku shared his post-match thoughts and a picture with the trophy, Drogba entered the comments to pile a bit more praise on the striker, replying simply with: "World Champion baby."
The Ivory Coast star has since piled more praise on Lukaku and delivered a verdict on his opening goal - a header Drogba himself would have been proud of.
