Tam Courts fires Dundee United warning to top six challengers as he declares are 'we in control of their own destiny'

Tam Courts insists Dundee United are in charge of their own fate after a draw with Aberdeen moved them into fourth spot.

The Tangerines are in an intriguing battle for the top six with seven clubs all battling for the three spots behind Celtic, Rangers and Hearts.

Currently it's United who lead the pack though they have played a game more than Hibs, who face Rangers on Sunday.

A 1-1 draw at Pittodrie was enough to take fourth for now though and Courts said: “It's probably testament to how far we've come that we leave here a little bit disappointed. Three points are very valuable at this stage of the season.

“Points on the basis of taking everything into consideration are probably worthy of acceptance as well. That's only one defeat in nine games so it tells you that the boys are spirited, are together, can find solutions at an important stage of the season. If we can win at Livingston on Wednesday it will be really good points for us.

“It's difficult to say but I do have an idea of how many points it will take (to reach the top six) and what affects that is the form of other teams.
