Clyde boss content with Airdrie draw as they are 'best side in League One'

Clyde boss Danny Lennon was content with a point from their Lanarkshire derby draw with Airdrie as he believes the Diamonds are the best team in League One right now.

The Bully Wee went ahead after 42 minutes when Lewis Jamieson's thumping volley broke the deadlock, but Airdrie levelled 16 minutes from time through substitute Gabby McGill.

Airdrie felt aggrieved after being denied four penalties during the match, but Clyde will also feel they could have taken more from the game.

Either side of his goal, Jamieson hit the bar with a header in the first few minutes and midway through the second half he skewed an effort wide inside the six yard box.

The Bully Wee remain sixth in the table, but Lennon was pleased with his side's display against a side he deems the best in the division right now, despite trailing leaders Cove by five points.

He said: "I think Airdrie have been the most consistent and best side.

"I know the table doesn't suggest that right now, but I mean on current form.

"We knew the challenge that was upon us today and we had a gameplan that worked very well.

"In the second half there were still moments there for us and wee Lewis Jamieson had the best chance of the second half.

"We've also hit the woodwork in the first three minutes.

"But where I thought we were absolutely fantastic today was with the energy and the spirit, desire to get back in behind the ball.

"I think Airdrie had a lot of territory in our half. It was aerial balls and we tried to change things to counter that by bringing another centre-back on.

"We know Airdrie are fantastic from middle to front and they have a lot of creativity, but I thought we nullified that for long periods.

"In my opinion there were a lot of positives for us.
