"Talks are ongoing" - Journalist doubts Wolves will reach internal agreement with £60m star

Wolves are in talks with midfielder Ruben Neves over a new deal but could still lose him this summer, claims transfer insider Pete O’Rourke.

The Portugal international is approaching the final two years of his contract and continues to be linked with a move away from Molineux.

According to Sky Sports, Mikel Arteta has made Neves a top target as he looks to improve his Arsenal midfield.

The same report states that the 25-year-old could cost the Gunners £60m, which is nowhere near the fee Bruno Lage thinks he has the potential to bring in.

The Wolves manager recently suggested that Neves could fetch up to £100m in this current market.

“When you have a top player like him in that specific position, that can defend and attack, and is a top professional and a great man, the big teams are there with £100m to buy these kinds of players,” Lage was recently quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

O’Rourke has told GIVEMESPORT that Neves is in talks with Wolves over a new deal but an exit this summer is still a strong possibility.

Speaking to GMS, the football journalist said: “I think Wolves are going to find it hard to keep hold of him this year. Talks are ongoing over a new deal, but I think there’s a realisation on both parties here that maybe the time has come for them to move on.

“I’m sure Ruben Neves in the summer will have a big decision to make on his future.”

Neves has probably accomplished all he can at Wolves. The former Porto man helped the Midlands club to win promotion to the Premier League back in 2018 and has played in Europe with them.
