Swansea City sunk as Taylor's stoppage-time winner hands Millwall victory
Caleb Taylor's stoppage-time header denied Swansea City a share of the spoils with Millwall at The Den.
The Lions defender popped up to net in the 92nd minute to condemn the Swans to their fifth defeat in six away league games, having previously set up Mihailo Ivanovic for a deserved first-half opener.
Vitor Matos, clearly wary of the bruising festive schedule, made five changes to the side that saw off West Bromwich Albion on New Year's Day, and watched on as his team struggled to replicate the intensity that had delivered some of their most recent successes.
Swansea did improve in the second half, however, and when Ben Cabango netted an equaliser, there was perhaps some hope they could potentially seal back-to-back away victories for the first time this season.
But Taylor would shatter those hopes deep into injury-time, although it was arguably only the brilliance of Lawrence Vigouroux in the first half that this game even remained a contest.
Indeed, Swansea could barely get out of their own half during an opening 15 minutes the hosts dominated.
Ivanovic had an early effort blocked, while Tristan Crama headed a corner narrowly over the bar.
Alex Neil's men would have surely taken the lead were it not for the heroics of Vigouroux, who first denied Ivanovic's header, before then keeping out Macaulay Langstaff's rebound.
Langstaff whistled a bending shot just over the bar just after 20 minutes as the hosts continued buffeting the Swansea defence, who continued to rely far too heavily on Vigouroux's brilliance.
The Chile international had to produce another astonishing double-save to deny Ivanovic and Langstaff again ten minutes before the break, before getting down again to keep out a stinging drive from Femi Azeez.
