Swansea City 2-0 Bristol City: Cullen and Ntcham strikes earn Russell Martin's men morale-boosting win

Liam Cullen and Olivier Ntcham struck either side of half-time as Swansea City ended their six-game winless run with a deserved 2-0 win over Bristol City.

The Swans dominated the opening half and took the lead as Cullen slotted beyond Max O'Leary in the 34th minute. Bristol City rarely troubled Andy Fisher, and Ntcham notched his sixth goal of the season 13 minutes from time as the Swans tasted success in what was their final showing before the international break while keeping their first clean sheet since beating Watford 4-0 in late December.

Russell Martin stuck with the same 11 that started at Millwall on Tuesday night, with Ollie Cooper returning to the squad in place of Liam Smith.

And the hosts very nearly rewarded the faith of the head coach with just 11 seconds on the clock as Luke Cundle teed up Joel Piroe inside the box, although the Dutchman drilled wide from an acute angle.

It set the tone for what was to be a controlled showing from Martin's men, with Bristol City desperately struggling to make any kind of impression on the contest as Ryan Manning's drilled effort was headed clear.

Nigel Pearson's side were largely restricted to operating on the counter attack while also looking to threaten from set-pieces, with their only effort of note in early on seeing Mark Sykes drill straight at Fisher from 25 yards out.

Harry Darling then hurled himself at Matt Grimes' floated cross, with O'Leary palming away the defender's header before Cameron Pring blocked Liam Walsh's follow-up effort.
