Swansea City 1-0 QPR: Joel Piroe strikes to earn Russell Martin's men first home victory

Joel Piroe's first-half strike proved enough for Swansea City who earned their first home win of the campaign against Queens Park Rangers.

Just days earlier, there were huge concerns over whether or not the Dutchman would even be involved in the fixture given Leeds United's transfer deadline day interest in the forward.

But the Swans stood firm to keep hold of their star man, and he once again proved his worth by netting his third goal of the campaign shortly after missing a penalty to settle what was a fascinating affair at the Swansea.com Stadium.

Russell Martin made three changes from the 1-1 draw with Stoke City on Wednesday night, and there were some notable omissions from the home side's squad as Olivier Ntcham and Michael Obafemi were both left out.

Steven Benda was handed his first league start for Swansea in a year while Ben Cabango and Jamie Paterson both returned to the line-up - with Andy Fisher, Harry Darling and Jay Fulton all dropping to the bench.
