Swansea City 0-4 Leeds United: Gnonto strikes twice as lacklustre Swans hammered by ruthless visitors

Swansea City were handed a bruising reality check as they were crushed by a ruthless Leeds United at the Swansea.com Stadium.

Crysencio Summerville, Joel Piroe, and Wilfried Gnonto all found the target for the visitors during a disastrous first half for the Swans, who seldom showed signs of a response despite an improved second-half showing.

Gnonto completed his brace after the break following a rapid breakaway, condemning Luke Williams to the heaviest home defeat of his Swansea City reign.

There had previously been a huge feelgood factor around the Swans following Saturday's superb showing at Hull City. But they were brought firmly back down to earth with a bump here as Leeds swept their way to a seventh straight league win.

There is an obvious caveat here in that Daniel Farke's team are, to put it simply, a far better side than Swansea. But having showed such strong signs of real progress in recent weeks, Swans fans probably have a right to feel disappointed at what they were served up here.

In any case, all the causes for optimism and encouraging XG stats in the world can't mask the fact that their side have now lost five of their last six games in all competitions. It's a concerning run of form for any team, although Swansea do still have a seven-point point cushion between themselves and the dropzone.

Williams made just one change from the side that secured that sensational win on Saturday, with Kyle Naughton dropping to the bench following his knock against the Tigers.

If there was any euphoria left over from that win over Humberside, it had surely evaporated after a positively disastrous opening 10 minutes.
