Man City player ratings vs Manchester United as Foden class and Haaland finds perfect response

Phil Foden scored twice to lead Manchester City to victory in the 192nd Manchester derby.

Marcus Rashford stunned the Etihad inside the opening 10 minutes with an unstoppable effort thrashed past Ederson after Bruno Fernandes had knocked the ball back for him. A frustrating first half followed for the Blues, who had 17 shots to United's two but went in behind after Erling Haaland missed a sitter.

United tried to defend their lead in the second half but Foden scored twice and Haaland added a third to give City the win that pushes them closer to the top of the table while worsening United hopes of making the top four. Here are the player ratings from the game.

Ake: Showed his intelligence playing through the lines and progressing the team up the pitch with simple balls. 7

Rodri: Couldn't get on the ball enough in the early stages but once he was on it United couldn't get him off it. 8

Foden: Another man-of-the-match award to go with a cabinet bursting with them this season. Two terrific goals. 9

De Bruyne: Seemed to rush the ball too often looking for that killer ball that never really came off. 6
