Swansea City 0-1 Wycombe: Woeful Swans dumped out of Carabao Cup

Swansea City are out of the Carabao Cup after slipping to a limp defeat at the hands of League One Wycombe Wanderers at the Swansea.com Stadium.

Richard Kone's strike just before half-time proved enough to dump out a much-changed Swans side, who produced a lacklustre performance that was greeted by boos at full-time.

Swansea were sloppy in defence and impotent up front all night, failing to get anywhere near the sort of effervescence seen in the win over Gillingham in the previous round.

They will now look to pick themselves up when they return to Championship action on Saturday, where they travel to a West Bromwich Albion side that's taken two wins and a draw from their opening three games.

Fans voiced their frustration towards the end of the evening, puncturing what had previously been a reasonably positive atmosphere in SA1.

Indeed, ahead of this contest, Swansea announced their seventh signing of the summer in goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin, who's joined on a short-term deal. It's a move that ends interest in DC United's Tyler Miller, who had emerged as a possible loan target following days of talks.

However, McLaughlin quickly became a priority in the club's search for a temporary replacement for Andy Fisher, who remains on the treatment table after undergoing surgery on a groin injury picked up in pre-season.

One suspects fellow new signings Nelson Abbey and Florian Bianchini might well have a slightly larger role to play in this Swans side. Both were handed their debuts from the off against the Chairboys here.
