Swansea boss highlights 'not very good' West Brom record

Swansea City boss Russell Martin highlighted a key West Brom weakness following his side’s 2-0 win at The Hawthorns.

The Baggies’ dismal season continued as Joel Piroe and Cyrus Christie scored late on to seal victory for the 16th-placed Swans.

With the appointment of Steve Bruce, following the sacking of Valerian Ismael, failing to have the desired effect, it is looking like a season of mid-table mediocrity at best for Albion.

The Championship game was locked at 0-0 entering the closing stages, but Martin revealed after the game that he was always confident his side would prevail.

"We spoke about it. We have a 90-minute game plan, I feel the longer the game goes on, if we're winning or it's 0-0, we have a massive chance because of how much work we ask the opposition to do without the ball," said Martin, reported Wales Online.

"I think their record finishing games and conceding late on is not very good. I think the lads really believed in that.

"We spoke about the need for being patient but to show a bit more willingness, positivity and belief in themselves in the final third, and they definitely did that in the second half."
