The chilling 999 call that led police to cowardly thug hiding in loft following brutal attack on girlfriend

A chilling 999 call led to police finding a cowardly thug hiding in a loft after he launched a brutal attack on his girlfriend. "There's a boy beating up a girl really, really badly," the operator was told.

They were speaking about Jordan Dawson, 28. The call was made from his sister's house in Oldham. When cops arrived, they found the woman covered in blood. She had a suspected bleed on the brain.

Dawson was found hiding in the loft. As officers attempted to arrest him, he shouted: "The first person that comes up here will get chopped."

A court heard his mum, according to his victim, told him during the vicious assault: "Stop it, Jordan... you're going to kill her." Dawson has now been sent down.

Prosecutor Craig Macgregor told Minshull Street Crown Court the woman and Dawson started speaking when he was in prison. "He made her feel sorry for him because he had been in and out of prison his whole life and wanted to change," he said.

When Dawson was released, they started a relationship - which turned volatile 'very quickly'. At one point, the victim moved into a woman's refuge. On January 21, at around 1.20am, police were called to Dawson's sister's house on Zealand Street.

"The police are needed straight away," someone had told a 999 operator after saying a 'boy' was 'beating up a girl really, really badly'.

The caller hung up immediately, suggesting it may have been a member of Dawson's family, Mr Macgregor said. Officers went upstairs and found the woman in bed.
