Suspect arrested on street after fleeing scene of crash

A man was arrested in the street after he fled the scene of a crash in Wythenshawe.

Officers were called to 'reports of concern for the welfare of a man' on Greenbrow Road at around 5.15pm last night (Monday, March 4). Police attended the scene and found he had been involved in an earlier crash and had fled the scene.

He was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and criminal damage. The man - aged in his 20s - was also taken to hospital after suffering from a head injury.

He remains in custody for questioning. In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At around 5.15pm on Monday 4 March 2024, officers were called to reports of a concern for welfare of a man on Greenbrow Road in Wythenshawe.

"It was established that the man had been involved in an earlier road traffic collision and made off from the scene of the collision. The suspect, a man in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and criminal damage, he was a taken to hospital with a head injury.

"He remains in police custody and enquiries are ongoing."
