'Surprisingly' - Ex reveals late Jesse Lingard transfer update at West Ham

West Ham United insider ExWHUemployee has revealed that there remains late hope over a possible move for Jesse Lingard after the club made a new offer for the midfielder.

With the transfer market nearly done, it seems as though there is still plenty left to happen before the window shuts in just a matter of hours.

One key story that may yet have more to unfold is the future of Lingard. Indeed, the Manchester United man has been linked with the likes of West Ham, as well as Newcastle United throughout January but still remains with the Red Devils.

Now, however, in a post shared to The West Ham Way Patreon page, Ex explained that ‘surprisingly’ a Hammer bid for the 29-year-old was not ‘completely knocked back’.

The insider wrote: “As reported the club have gone back in for Lingard with an improved offer. Surprisingly it seems to have not been completely knocked back. We will keep you up to date with how this progresses….”

He later added: “Update: It’s all down to Man U’s board to accept the deal. They have always seen us as a rival so whether they will change their mind is unlikely. Lingard is open to the move apparently should it get accepted now he knows that he doesn’t feature in the new manager’s plans so this has changed his mind. Newcastle are Manchester United’s preferred choice of destination.”
