Supporting Israel and the Palestinians: EU's impossible tightrope walk
Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron has visited Israel and suggested an international coalition against Hamas. He was not representing the EU when he said that. The Czech and Austrian leaders have visited Israel too.
On top of all this, the conflict appears to be spilling over into Europe; a synagogue in Berlin has been targeted by Molotov cocktails, and anti-Semitic inscriptions reported in Spain and the UK.
