SuperSport claim win over Pirates in final DStv clash of the season

SuperSport United claimed the spoils in the final DStv Premiership game of the season as they came away with a 2-0 victory over Orlando Pirates on Monday.

The win sees SuperSport end the season in eighth position on the log with 10 wins, 10 draws and 10 losses in their 30 games.

Pirates secured sixth place on the log, a massive 21 points behind champions Mamelodi Sundowns, as they ended with 10 wins, 14 draws and 6 losses for the season. 

The home side took a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute as Fortune Makaringe, who returned to the Pirates starting lineup, had the misfortune of giving SuperSport the lead as he guided a header into his own net from a corner.

In the second half, things went from bad to worse for Pirates as Happy Jele was sent off after giving a penalty for bringing down Thamsanqa Gabuza in the area.

More drama followed as Richard Ofori saved Ghampani Lunugu's spot-kick, only for the referee to rule he had come off his line.

Lungunu made no mistake in hitting the mark with his second attempt to seal a 2-0 victory for SuperSport.
