Supermarket trips and 'crazy' Pep - Erling Haaland is already proving Man City doubters wrong

Erling Haaland was only unveiled as a Manchester City player last month, but already it seems clear that absolutely nothing will faze him.

Given the high-stakes battle for Haaland's signature that took place between City and Real Madrid for the better part of last season and the media storm that followed it, it's safe to assume that his every move at the Etihad Stadium will be under the spotlight. It's a reality of modern football and superstardom that he will be under constant scrutiny.

So far, the 22-year-old striker has taken everything in his stride (as well as giving it back), an approach that will only set him up to thrive under the pressure his move has rightly or wrongly created.

A couple of weeks ago, Haaland was photographed shopping in a Sainsbury's store with his father, Alfie, his trolley filled with what any normal person would buy from the supermarket.

Pretty soon an article appeared online detailing exactly how much every item in Haaland's trolley cost, the outing described as a 'student shop'. The Norway international must have thought the attention odd, and on Monday he responded in typical mick-taking fashion. Haaland posted a selfie on his Twitter account with the caption: "Went shopping today again! What did I buy? Anyone?"

A few minutes later he followed the photo up with an update that read: "(At M&S) Bought a bag of Percy Pig (don't tell anyone)."
