Supercomputer predicts Man City's chances of winning Champions League ahead of Real Madrid clash

A supercomputer has predicted that Manchester City are the favourites to win this season's Champions League.

City are at the semi-final stage of the competition and are in the mix for winning the European Cup for the first time in the club's history. Pep Guardiola's side reached the final two years ago, but were beaten 2-0 by Chelsea on that occasion as the wait for Europe's top prize goes on for the Etihad Stadium club.

City have taken on Real Madrid in the first leg of their last four clash. The tie is square after the opening salvo, with a 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Vinicius Junior put Real ahead in the first half, but Kevin De Bruyne equalised in the second half of the encounter to get City back on level terms. The game is evenly poised ahead of Real taking on City in the second leg of the tie next Wednesday at the Etihad Stadium.

And according to Bettingexpert's supercomputer,BETSiE, City have been predicted to reach the final ahead of Real, and have also been tipped as the favourites to win the competition. The supercomputer simulated the remainder of the Champions League fixtures 20,000 times. The supercomputer takes into account all match results from the season (across competitions) played so far, projecting the remainder of the season based on both pre-season expectations and xG earned both for and against.

According to the calculations, City have a 69.80 per cent chance of reaching the Champions League final, which takes place in Istanbul next month. In terms of winning the Champions League, City top the figures with a 51.15pc chance of winning the competition overall.
