Manchester City's unbeaten run ended as they were beaten by Brentford in their final Premier League game of the season.

The Blues travelled south having wrapped up the title after 35 games, beating Chelsea and drawing at Brighton in their two games since their status as champions was confirmed.

City's squad did not include the likes of Jack Grealish, Kevin De Bruyne and Ruben Dias. The MEN understands De Bruyne was deemed 'not fully fit' for the game in West London, and there will be plenty of attention around anything Pep Guardiola has to say about his talisman with FA Cup and Champions League finals to come over the next fortnight.

The game looked set to end 0-0 but Brentford struck late on through Ethan Pinnock to inflict a first league defeat on City since January.

That's that, the Champions end with a defeat to Brentford and the 25-game unbeaten run comes to an end.

Brentford become the only side to do the double over City this season, and they deserve credit for their performance today. They won't play in Europe this season, but at this rate, who's to say they won't challenge next year?
