Sunrisers Eastern Cape finally open SA20 account with comprehensive win over Durban's Super Giants

Aiden Markram's Sunrisers Eastern Cape have opened their 2025 SA20 account with a bonus point 58-run win over Durban's Super Giants at Kingsmead in Durban on Friday night.

Batting first, the Sunrisers posted 165/5 on a wicket that was slow and taking some turn.

Tom Abell scored top with 57 off 39, while Marco Jansen added 36* off 26, and Zak Crawley contributed 38 off 29. 

Sunrisers' skipper, Markram, could only manage a duck, as he was one of Noor Ahmad's victims at the spinner, and he ended with 4/25 from his four overs.

Spin played a crucial role in the Super Giants chase as they lost wickets at regular intervals after a decent start by Matthew Breetzke (21 off 26) and Bryce Parsons (23 off 21). 

Liam Dawson (2/18) and Simon Harmer (1/24) proved difficult to get away for the home side, and while Quinton de Kock made 21, with Wiaan Mulder contributing 22, the Super Giants were simply never in the chase as Richard Gleeson grabbed two wickets at the death.
