Strictly Come Dancing fans think they’ve spotted a ‘winner’ as star wows with ‘pure class’ performance

Strictly Come Dancing fans were left stunned by Angela Rippon’s performance on Saturday night’s show - and think she could be ‘this year’s winner’. The TV legend, 78, wowed the judges and fans alike with her cha cha.

Wearing a silver sparkly fringed dress, the veteran broadcaster took to the dancefloor with professional partner Kai Widdrington to Get The Party Started by Dame Shirley Bassey. During the dance she showed off her flexibility with an impressive leg kick.

Fans took to X as Angela, who this year’s oldest contestant, showed off her moves. @iamcraigross wrote: “Angela Rippon WOW - Leg lift like a level crossing.” @benji70 added: “Jesus, Angela is pretty bendy isn’t she? “. @ruth_clark said: “omg Angela Rippon is fantastic, she's 78, those legs.”

The judges were equally impressed. Judge Motsi Mabuse said: “That was a statement, that is how you start a Saturday night.”

Shirley Ballas admitted that she was getting emotional watching the performance as she remembered Rippon announcing her at the UK dance championships. She added that everything about her was “pure class”, while Craig Revel Horwood simply described it as “jaw-dropping”.
