Strictly Come Dancing fans 'pretty cross' and say 'go home' as they spot problem in the first live show

Strictly Come Dancing fans claimed they'd been left 'pretty cross' as they tuned into the first live show of the new series. The 2023 run of the BBC One dance contest began last weekend with the launch show in which the 15 new celebrities discovered their professional partners.

However, the competition officially began on Saturday night (September 23) with the first live show of the 21st series. Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman welcomed viewers back to the ballroom while judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas took their seats behind the judging panel ready to cast their expert eyes over the routines.

Week one opened with a dramatic performance by the professional dancers set to Everybody Wants To Rule The World by Tears For Fears. The routine saw a number of the dancers performing at a scenic, coastal viewpoint before the scene moved to the Strictly dancefloor, where the rest of the professionals joined the performance.

It was then on with the competition and it was Waterloo Road star, and Manchester's own, Adam Thomas who opened the show with his partner Luba Mushtuk with a smiley cha cha to the Jonas Brothers track Waffle House. Backdropped by a waffle house staging, the actor grooved with his partner to secure a score of 19 from the judges.

Afterwards, Thomas admitted he had been nervous all week, but described his Strictly debut as “the best feeling ever”. And he got some positive pointers with head judge Shirley praising his “beautiful personality” and “fantastic co-ordination”, while advising him to tighten up
