Storm Noa closes two sections of the M4 and Severn Bridge as Met Office issues new weather warnings - live updates

Storm Noa and a yellow weather warning has caused serious traffic disruption across Wales closing parts of the M4 and the old Severn Bridge. The Met Office is reporting that the storm hitting parts of Wales today has been named Noa by french forecasters. As of 9:45am on Wednesday morning, the M4 Kenfig Bridge Westbound closed due to strong winds from J37 A4229 (Pyle / Porthcawl) to J38 A48 (Margam). Cameras show traffic is been forced off at J37, but show traffic flowing on the Eastbound side.

As well as this the M4 Briton Ferry Bridge in Port Talbot Eastbound closed, queueing traffic due to strong winds from J42 A483 (Swansea East / Briton Ferry) to J41 (Baglan / Pentyla). Congestion to J45 (Ynysforgan).

Cameras show traffic is flowing on the Westbound side.

The M48 Severn Bridge is also closed in both directions due to strong winds between J2 A466 Wye Valley Link Road (Chepstow) and J1 A403 (Aust). Cameras show both sides of the bridge are now closed.

A yellow weather warning is in place for parts of the country bringing with it strong winds and heavy rain. The yellow weather warning for wind is in place from 6am to 8pm and mainly affects the south west coast.

The warning reads: "West or northwest winds are expected to increase during Wednesday morning, then remain strong for much of the day. Gusts of 40-50 mph are expected widely within the warning area, but some coastal areas, especially in parts of south and west Wales and Cornwall, could see gusts above 60-70 mph during Wednesday morning. Outbreaks of heavy rain or showers will accompany the strong winds."
