Storm Dudley: Met Office update as 'danger to life' weather warning extended

Storm Dudley is set to hit the UK tomorrow - and a Met Office 'danger to life' warning has been extended to cover Greater Manchester.

'Very strong winds' will batter the whole region tomorrow (Wednesday), according to forecasters.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning from 3pm until 6am on Thursday.

Forecasters originally predicted that Greater Manchester would escape the worst of the strong gusts, but the area covered by the warning has been extended.

Storm Dudley is likely to cause disruption to travel with roads and railways affected, according to the Met Office.

There will also be a 'chance of injuries and danger to life' from flying debris.

Fallen trees could cause damage to buildings and there could be some power cuts.

A Met Office amber weather warning is also in place tomorrow for much of the north east, Cumbria and Scotland.

Winds could reach up to 90mph in some areas covered by the alert.

Towards the end of the week, Greater Manchester will then be hit by Storm Eunice - another deep low-pressure system which will bring strong winds and potentially some snow to some parts of the UK.

A yellow weather warning is in place from midnight on Friday to 9pm.
