Stoneyburn searching for new boss as Steven Sharp departs Beechwood Park club

Stoneyburn are searching for a new manager after parting ways with Steven Sharp following last night’s 5-0 home loss to Edinburgh College.

Sharp had spent four years at the club, initially joining the coaching staff then stepping into the main gig after Allan Fleming stood aside a year later.

A challenging few months has seen the Beechwood Park side fall into second bottom of the East of Scotland Third Division table.

Despite his departure, there were many positives during Sharp’s time in the hotseat including a famous East of Scotland Qualifying Cup victory over Lowland League side Berwick Rangers earlier this season.

They also won the inaugural Steven Macmillan Memorial Trophy in pre-season - named after the club’s long-serving secretary who sadly passed away in August 2021.

A club statement last night announcing the decision read: “Stoneyburn Juniors can confirm that Manager Steven Sharp has this evening, left the club by mutual consent.

“The club would like to thank Steven for the last few years during which we have had some fantastic performances.

“Memorable results beating Lowland League side Berwick Rangers and won the most important trophy for the club with the Steven Macmillan Memorial trophy.

“Steven has been a major part of everything good around the club on and off the pitch and will always be welcome back to the fulshie with open arms.”

Chairman David Macmillan commented “It is with enormous regret that this difficult decision has been made. Ultimately, results and performances in recent months have resulted in both parties feeling a change is necessary.

“That said, Steven’s impact since joining us has been magnificent, and he is held in the highest regard by myself. Steven has given his all to the club and
