Aaron Mooy in Rangers showdown boost as Celtic star returns to training but eagle-eyed fans spot 2 missing

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou could be set for a major boost going into the clash with Rangers after Aaron Mooy was spotted training at Lennoxtown.

The Australian has missed the last two Scottish Premiership games against Hibs and Ross County having become a key part of Postecoglou's side following the World Cup break, but he looks set to win his fitness race for the crucial derby showdown at Celtic Park after training with the squad on Wednesday. He was spotted in footage released by Celtic TV emerging on to the training pitch and being put through his paces by Postecoglou and Harry Kewell.

However, it wasn't all good news for Celtic with Reo Hatate and Greg Taylor seemingly missing out on the midweek session. Hatate has been sidelined since picking up a knock against Hibs, while Scotland cap Taylor limped off in the with a dead leg picked up at Dingwall on Sunday.

Liel Abada, Anthony Ralston and James Forrest were also absent from training, but the trio had not been expected to make the clash with Michael Beale's side by Postecoglou. Speaking on Mooy and Hatate before the clash with Ross County, the Parkhead boss was optimistic about the chances of the duo returning to face Rangers.

Asked about a return timeline, he said: "Hopefully next week. Him and Aaron were close but not quite ready. We've got a full week after this game and if everything goes well he should be available."

He was also optimistic about Taylor post match, stating: "He had a dead leg which hampered him. But it’s nothing that’s going to keep him out I wouldn’t think.”
