Stirling Albion hope to banish away day blues as in-form Gable Endies test awaits

Stirling Albion will be aiming to reverse the road blues on Saturday as they head to in-form Montrose aiming to keep up the momentum from their strong start.

The Binos still sit in third place in League One through the opening six games of the campaign, but have fallen to consecutive 3-0 defeats in their last two away games in the division to Falkirk and then Annan Athletic last weekend.

Darren Young’s side have maintained a strong home record in league action, with the side being unbeaten in 2023 at Forthbank on league business – their last loss at home also coming against Annan with a 2-0 loss in November 2022.

Following Saturday’s defeat, the Stirling manager said: “They’ve reacted brilliantly all season with the Falkirk game and so on, the guys know and they’re a great bunch.

“We’ll give them praise when they do well but at the same time, they have to take the criticism because it’s a sore one but I know the players will be hurting and keen to make amends.

“It will be a very hard game up there, I’ve been there a lot with East Fife and Alloa, it’s a hard place to go; they’ve been here and done it and scored five goals so we need to get back to that hard to beat mentality and be ruthless.”

Montrose will provide a stiff test to address their away concerns, with Stewart Petrie’s men having reversed a slow start to the campaign to rack up back-to-back wins in the league, with a 3-2 away success against Queen of the South followed by a 5-2 home romp against Edinburgh City last time out.

They boast impressive firepower who will be familiar to local football fans, with former Elgin City striker Kane Hester leading the line with four goals this season across all competitions.
