Stirling Albion boss hopes to add more new faces to his 2022-23 squad
Stirling Albion manager Darren Young is still planning to add a number of players to his squad ahead of next season after bringing in four new recruits so far.
Stenhousemuir striker Robert Thomson and East Fife trio Aaron Dunsmore, Ross Davidson and Danny Denholm have already been snapped up for 2022/23, with several others likely to follow.
Ten of last season’s squad have also been retained - goalkeepers Blair Currie and Callum Law, defenders Adam Cummins, Paul McLean, Jordan McGregor and Ross McGeachie, midfielders Jack Leitch and Kyle Banner, winger Kieran Moore and top scorer Dale Carrick.
The former Airdrie striker ended the campaign with 11 league goals, including a first career hat-trick in the 5-0 thrashing of Edinburgh City on the last day of the season.
Young has confirmed that he will again be assisted by James Creaney, who will largely concentrate on coaching duties but will again be registered as a player. Young himself, now 43, was on the bench a couple of times last season when the squad was hit hard by injuries and Covid.
The Binos boss, who is playing in a charity match in Aberdeen this weekend, has a number of targets in mind as he seeks to bolster his squad for the forthcoming campaign.
Young said: “We have brought in four so far but we are looking at another three or four anyway and we also have the loan market available to us. We hope to be in a position to announce at least one or two new signings soon and we start back training next week.
“Danny Denholm was the most recent of our signings - he did well for me at East Fife and is a player with a lot of experience. He is also a very good professional and I’m sure he will do well.”
