Stirling Albion add ex-Montrose midfielder to ranks in second signing of summer

Stirling Albion have made their second signing of the summer ahead of their League One assault, with midfielder Lewis Milne signing on.

The 29-year-old has joined from his second stint at Montrose, where he has been since January 2019 after previous spells with Raith Rovers, Forfar Athletic and Cowdenbeath.

He was a regular fixture in the Gable Endies’ side in League One in the last campaign, racking up 26 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals.

Binos boss Darren Young was excited about his latest capture and told the Observer: “Lewis has experience playing at both Championship and League One level and that will be a big addition for the squad.

“He’s a quality player and someone I have always had an eye when he has played for other teams, but I could never quite get him in the door but with him being available, I thought it was a great opportunity and so we spoke at the start of the summer.

“He’s a good player that can play a number of positions for the team and someone who I feel can really improve the squad.”

Meanwhile, the opening fixtures for Stirling Albion’s 2023/24 campaign were also revealed last week – and Young is aiming for his side to put on another strong League Cup showing.

The Binos have been drawn in Group A for the Viaplay Cup, with the opening game due to take place on July 15.

That match will see Stirling host Championship side Ayr United before a trip to local rivals Alloa Athletic three days later.

The busy start continues with a third game in a week when Stenhousemuir, are the visitors to Forthbank.

Stirling will then enjoy a much-needed breather from the hectic kick-off midweek before finishing off their group stage with a visit to McDiarmid Park to take on Premiership St Johnstone
