“Still very early” – QPR set sights on signing 23-year-old: The verdict

QPR are interested in a summer move for Lincoln City goalkeeper Jordan Wright, as per a report from Football Insider. 

The R’s are reportedly one of a number of Championship clubs monitoring the 23-year-old’s progress at the LNER Stadium, although, they are the only named second-tier outfit at this stage.

Wright joined the Imps on a permanent deal from Nottingham Forest in January, and after playing a deputy role immediately, he has now started the club’s last five league games, keeping two clean sheets in the process.

The young goalkeeper started this season on loan with Hereford, proving to handle the step up three divisions very well.

Jordan Wright would be a good signing for QPR. Although he left Nottingham Forest having not made a senior appearance for the Championship side, since being called upon at Lincoln, due to an injury for Josh Griffiths, Wright has made a good impression.

He has only made six appearances for Lincoln so far but kept two clean sheets and conceded only one goal on two other occasions.

Whilst he will have further progress to make, for him to be called upon unexpectedly and make such a start is a glimpse of where he can go as a player.

The only thing QPR will need to be considering is the price tag that Lincoln put on the player as he’s tied on a contract there until 2023.
