Jake Livermore delivers strong message to West Brom teammates ahead of Birmingham City clash

West Brom return to action following the international break this Sunday.

Steve Bruce’s side meet with local rivals Birmingham City at St Andrews, with West Brom currently 12th in the Championship table.

The Baggies go into this weekend’s action on a four game unbeaten run.

From two wins and two draws, Bruce’s side are starting to turn momentum around following the 61-year old’s poor start to life at the Hawthorns.

This run has lifted West Brom to within seven points of the play-off places with eight games left this season.

Livermore has claimed that the international break has benefitted the West Brom players and has urged his teammates to continue where they left off, starting this weekend.

“I think the international break provided a good chance for the manager and his staff to really home in on certain principles, and it turned out to be a great week for us,” said Livermore, via Express & Star.

“But we need to come out of the blocks from this international break and have a real positive end to the season now.

“We’ve gone four games unbeaten and we must keep that run going, and there’s no better way to do it than in a derby.”

Livermore has featured 29 times in the Championship so far this season.

The skipper has been an important player throughout the campaign, bringing with him plenty of experience at the highest level.

A win for the Baggies this weekend could see them move as high 10th in the table, and potentially within four points of the play-offs, if results go their way elsewhere.

Livermore is setting an example for his West Brom teammates for the standard that the side needs to deliver.

West Brom will need to maintain this level of performance to have any chance of making a top six finish.
