'Still Man City's title to lose' - Robbie Savage makes Liverpool trophy priority claim
Liverpool still have the chance to complete an unprecedented quadruple this season, but former Premier League player Robbie Savage believes he knows where Jurgen Klopp's priorities must lie.
The Reds will have the opportunity to get their hands on the Carabao Cup this weekend, should they beat Chelsea at Wembley, but are still advancing well in the Champions League and the FA Cup.
And after winning their game in hand on Manchester City against Leeds United on Wednesday evening, Klopp's men are right in the thick of a title race and it's this that Radio presenter Savage believes Liverpool need to throw all their focus on, even though he still thinks City are in prime position.
Writing in his regular column for the Daily Mirror, Savage said: “Calm down – it's still Manchester City's title to lose.
“Despite Liverpool hitting six against Leeds, and City's shock home defeat by Tottenham, the title is still in Pep Guardiola's hands.
“Don't forget, Liverpool still have to go to the Etihad. Lose that one, and they will have it all to do again.
“As I said in last week's column, if they avoid each other in the draw, it might be a Liverpool-City final in the Champions League.
“But if I were a Liverpool fan, I would want to win the title more. In the last 30 years, they have won the European Cup more often than the Premier League.
“To call yourself champions, you have to be the biggest beast at home.”
Former Leicester City player Savage believes that Liverpool supporters are driven by equalling Manchester United's record 20 league titles, with the Reds currently one behind on 19.
