Tammy Abraham reportedly "hopes to return" to Chelsea in the future after enjoying a successful first season in Italy with Roma.
Jose Mourinho decided to bring the fringe Blues forward to the Stadio Olimpico for £34million during the summer transfer window with the striker's game time under Thomas Tuchel limited.
Arsenal were reported to be interested in his services but Roma ultimately won the race, with Abraham taking the less trodden path for English players and moving abroad.
It has paid off, however, and after being recalled to the England side by Gareth Southgate, the 24-year-old spoke highly of the decision and recommended it to others.
"The easy option would’ve been to stick around and sit down at Chelsea," Abraham told The Guardian back in October.
"I realised I needed to go out and prove myself. Of course, there were nerves and changing countries is always a brave thing to do. But I’d recommend it to young English players. I’d say not to be scared.
"You learn about yourself. It’s tough but I’m getting used to it. I’ve gone to Rome and it’s time to show myself again."
Abraham has found the net 18 times in 34 appearances in all competitions -
