Stewartry RFC hosting Scotland's biggest women's rugby sevens tournament

Scotland’s biggest women’s rugby sevens tournament is taking place in the Stewartry this weekend.

The Women’s 7 Series is being hosted at Stewartry RFC’s Greenlaw home on Saturday afternoon.

It’s the second of three legs of the competition, defending champs Corstorphine Cougars taking the honours in Glasgow last weekend.

Sirens vice captain Lauren Nicholson said: “It’s the biggest women’s sevens event in Scotland.

There will also be a variety of food vans and stalls, including Country Kitchen and Glen Urr Ice Cream, and entertainment for kids such as face painters.

The bar will be open, with a gin and prosecco bar thanks to Dark Art Distillery in Kirkcudbright, with live music from The Rewind, a DJ set from Kieran Marshall and raffles adding to the fun.

And there will be a camp site open to everyone who wants to stay the night.

Lauren added: “Anybody else who wants to get involved in sponsorship or food vans, there are still
