Steven Gerrard's heat map after being sent off 38 seconds into Liverpool v Man Utd

Steven Gerrard endured one of the worst days of his career on March 22, 2015.

Liverpool welcomed fierce rivals Manchester United to Anfield for their Premier League clash.

The game was of paramount importance. Liverpool were just two points behind United going into the game in fifth and fourth respectively.

Despite being such a massive game, Brendan Rodgers named Liverpool’s influential captain, Gerrard, on the bench for his last ever match against United.

Gerrard entered the fray at half-time with Man United leading 1-0.

There was much excitement surrounding Gerrard’s introduction. After a flat first half, it was hoped he would provide the spark needed to mount a comeback.

But, incredibly, he was sent off after just 38 seconds.

Gerrard was fired up and he immediately roared into a challenge with Juan Mata, which sent the Spaniard flying.

Moments later, Gerrard then lashed out on Ander Herrera as he stamped on the United midfielder.

Martin Atkinson blew his whistle and he showed Gerrard a red card.

The Liverpool legend could not have any complaints and he walked off the field while shaking his head. View the moment below…
