Andy Halliday feared post Rangers fan reaction at next club as he vows to repay unwavering Hearts faith

Andy Halliday's own future with Hearts has been secured with a new two year deal.

Now he wants to play a part in helping the next generation of Jambos to fulfil their own hopes and dreams.

The midfielder might be only 30 and isn’t planning on hanging up his boots any time soon but Halliday has already started on the coaching path followed by the likes of Steven Naismith at the club, and while earning his badges is keeping an eye on the thriving Hearts academy.

Halliday admits he’d love to repay the faith shown in him by the Gorgie club when he left Rangers two years ago by helping them bring through the next generation of potential first-team stars.

He said: “I realise not only on the field but off it too I’ve a job to do because we have young players. It was brilliant to see them get to the Youth Cup Final, they are the future of the club. And it was brilliant to see four or five of them training with the first- team every single day.
