Steven Davis tells Rangers fans the players ARE hurting after Aris humbling with club in 'a difficult place'

Frustrated Steven Davis insists the Rangers players are feeling the pain after defeat to Aris Limassol as he admitted the club is "a difficult place to be at the moment."

Alex Moucketou-Moussounda and Shavy Babicka got the crucial goals for the minnows in the Europa League Group C clash and despite Abdallah Sima giving Rangers a lifeline but they failed to rescue a result to complete a nightmare week after the 3-1 defeat to Aberdeen which saw Michael Beale sacked. The players were met with a furious reaction at the full-time whistle as they were booed as they applauded the visiting support.

And interim boss Davis insists the players do share the pain with the punters behind the scenes. Davis told RTV:"The dressing room is hurting. We thought this was an opportunity to come here and get some points. We haven't managed to do that. We caused a lot of our own problems tonight.

"The two goals we concede are really poor and give us a mountain to climb but the boys kept trying to go and I couldn't fault them from that perspective but they lacked a bit of quality at times.

"You want to settle into the game early on, but after that (the early goal) it gives you a lot of work to do. I thought we started the second half reasonably well. There are not many positives to take from it.

"It's a difficult place to be at the moment, but in terms of the effort from the players I couldn't ask any more. We just have to continue with the basics and hard work. It's important we stay together at this moment and eventually things will turn."
