Steve Wright found dead at home after paramedics called to 'incident'

BBC Radio's Steve Wright was found dead at his home on Monday morning after paramedics responded to an 'incident'.

Emergency services were called to the DJ's home in Marleybone, London, on Monday shortly after 10am. Steve was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, police have stated his "unexpected" death is not being treated as suspicious. The radio presenter, who was featured on BBC Radio 1 and 2 for more than 40 years died at the age of 69, the Mirror reports.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 10.07am on Monday 12 February to reports of an incident. We sent a number of resources to the scene.

"Very sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene." Composer Anthony James shared what is considered the last picture of the radio presenter which was taken four weeks prior to his death.

Anthony wrote: "I can't sleep. I'm thinking of my dear friend Steve. We took this picture 4 weeks ago in New York. We were trying to do, as he put it 'ironic selfies. He had such a love of Life and radio.

"He told me 'AJ the blond hair has to go! I miss him #RIPSteveWright."

Steve's death was confirmed in a statement released by his family, it reads: "It is with deep sorrow and profound regret that we announce the passing of our beloved Steve Wright. In addition to his son, Tom, and daughter, Lucy, Steve leaves behind his brother, Laurence and his father Richard."
